Keeping yourself healthy- cold and flu free during winter months is the toughest
challenge of all. To make it through this cold season, it is time to check your winter
superfoods intake. Below are some foods that will assist with your overall health. Try

1. Natural yogurt

Natural plain yoghurt contains probiotics, the friendly bacteria that are essential for
good gut health (growth of good bacteria). Probiotics boost immunity by protecting
against viruses that enter via the digestive tract. Other foods which also contain
probiotics include fermented miso, tempeh, kefir, kombucha drink.

2. Eggs

One large egg provides 75 calories which provides an excellent source of protein, B
vitamins, vitamins A, D and zinc. Protein is essential in supporting a healthy immune
system. The body used protein as fuel to make antibodies that attack
viruses/bacteria and prevent infection.

3. Ginger

Ginger is a good source of vitamin C, magnesium, potassium, manganese. It is
known to help fight inflammation and bad bacterial growth as well. A slice of ginger
can be added to hot water/tea with lemon/orange juice to fight cold, cough/sore
throat.

4. Beetroot

Beetroot is rich in phytochemicals and antioxidants which protect the immune
system by fighting off destructive free radicals, molecules which harm healthy
cells and their DNA. This bright, sweet root vegetable can be eaten raw, baked,
steamed or pickled.

Tip: don’t discard the green leafy tops. They are high in nutrient value providing
vitamin C, beta carotene, calcium and iron.

Three Healthy Habits to Complement your HYPOXI training

If you kicked off the year with the best intentions to conquer your health and wellness goals and have slipped a little, now is a great time to re-assess your plan and commit to achieving it. To help you in this exercise, we’ve outlined below three healthy habits to complement your HYPOXI training.

  1. Plan
    Planning is critical to remaining on the healthy path – we all know ‘failing to plan is planning to fail’.

    How do you do this? Take half an hour each week to plan meals. We recommend planning for dinners and lunches, which take the most preparation. Planning and preparing your own meals results in less temptation to purchase that calorie-laden kebab for lunch. Also, ensure you plan well. When planning for dinners, make enough so you can have it for lunch the next day. This will reduce the output and save you time. 

 

  1. Order Online
    Pressed for time? Get groceries delivered straight to your door by ordering online. Go to any leading supermarket/grocer website and purchase everything on your list after you create your meal plan. Shopping online will not only save you time, it will save you money too. Studies suggest that customers purchase more than they need when surrounded by food options. Simply google your local supermarket now and start ordering!

Alternatively, there are great ready-made meals that take the hard work and thinking out of meal planning and preparation – like the range from 5.4, which are the perfect companion to your HYPOXI training. 

 

  1. Splurge meals
    Not giving yourself permission to eat what you like can be catastrophic. A strained relationship with food and continual guilt over food choices is generally the outcome. As a general rule, commit to no more than two meals per week to eat what you like, but ensure you do this on one day a week only, for example, Sunday lunch and dinner. This doesn’t give you permission to eat whatever you want all day long – it’s just two meals that you plan in advance and ensure enjoy every mouthful! This will help you to enjoy your life, but also stay on track with your health goals.

What to expect at your first HYPOXI treatment?

On your first visit you’ll be asked to fill in a basic client questionnaire. Before treatment can begin, we need to gather some information about you, including any medical conditions. Our priority is to make sure you are safe and looked after at all times.

HYPOXI Dermology

What is HYPOXI: Why It Was Invented, Who Endorses It, and What to Expect From Your First SessionIf you choose to use our HYPOXI Dermology (HD for short) machine, we’ll get you comfortable in a private room and fit you with a special suit that looks a little bit like a scuba diving wetsuit. Around your waist you’ll see a series of pipes and hoses connected to the suit. These then link up to the HD machine, which tones and rejuvenate your skin using 400 integrated pressure chambers positioned around your stomach, buttocks, thighs, legs and back.

The effects of the HD machine are modelled after an ancient Chinese technique called ‘cupping’—although there are a few differences. For example, the experience of HD is more pleasant and about 100 times more effective. What does it feel like? We’ve had clients describe it as ‘large bubble wrap popping against their skin’ while wearing the suit.

HD works by stimulating your circulation and blood flow to areas of your body where there is stubborn cellulite and excess weight. It also detoxes and tones.

HYPOXI L250

What is HYPOXI: Why It Was Invented, Who Endorses It, and What to Expect From Your First SessionOur HYPOXI L250 looks like a cycle machine from the future. Before beginning the session, you’ll be fitted with a small piece of material around your waist that also looks a similar to a wetsuit and has a rubber ring at the bottom.

Then it’s time to hop into the machine, lie down and begin peddling the bike. The L250 machine will hum through a regular pattern of switching between compression and decompression as you cycle.

The machine works by artificially stimulating your blood supply to the fat and tissue around your stomach, hips, buttocks and thighs. Here it’s enriched with fatty acids before being taken from the problem areas and consumed by your body as fuel.

During the session you can lie back and read a magazine or book, or even check your phone, as you cycle and keep your heart rate at a certain level.

What is recommended after a HYPOXI session?

After a HYPOXI session we recommend that you don’t eat carbohydrates or exercise for at least 6 hours. It’s also very important to consume plenty of water after a treatment to help flush out toxins and keep hydrated.

Will I notice immediate results?

After your first HYPOXI session you will likely feel refreshed and healthier. However, to see more significant results from HYPOXI, you’ll need repeat sessions.

Siobhan’s Irish roots

Siobhan was born in Ireland and lived there for most of her life. But after her Nanny died in 2004 (soon after her 100th birthday), Siobhan looked to move abroad. Two weeks after her passing, Siobhan booked her ticket to Australia. She loved it so much here that she ended up living in Sydney for 6 years. After that she moved to Brisbane, which she now calls home.

How to Lose Baby Weight: Siobhan’s personal experience with HYPOXI

Siobhan’s passion for HYPOXI started years ago as part of a very personal journey. She first tried HYPOXI 8 weeks after her son, Max, was born. At the time she was a size 14 and had accumulated a lot of cellulite from pregnancy—mainly on the front of her legs.

Within 3 months, Siobhan had gone from a size 14 to a size 6 and lost her cellulite. From being involved in the beauty industry for years, she’d experienced a lot of different treatments and techniques, but nothing quite like HYPOXI. What impressed Siobhan most about HYPOXI was its speed and effectiveness.

Opening her own HYPOXI studios

Siobhan White is the driving force behind HYPOXI in Brisbane, creating 2 wonderful studios in Bulimba and Newstead.

The 3 months of HYPOXI that resulted in losing the baby weight had left its mark on Siobhan, and she was inspired to open her own studio. She really wanted to help others achieve their post baby weight-loss goals. And as she’d always been an active person who was interested in exercise, health, and wellness, this seemed like the perfect opportunity. But before she opened her studio, she conducted HYPOXI trials and research for 8 months, while also studying nutrition and business courses. After much preparation, Siobhan opened her first HYPOXI studio in Bulimba in March of 2012.

After working hard for 4 years to grow her Bulimba business, an opportunity came to open a second studio in Newstead. Also, by this stage, her son had started school, so that made expanding the business a whole lot easier. In April 2016, Siobhan opened her second HYPOXI studio in Newstead—just across the river from Bulimba.

Siobhan’s passion for health

Siobhan’s passion, and the inspiration behind her 2 HYPOXI studios, is to help people reach health and wellness milestones. She loves watching clients go on a journey and achieve great results. It’s even more special when a client has a goal like losing weight after having a baby or for for a particular event, like a wedding. This is the part of her job that is the most satisfying and rewarding—helping people each and every day.

But it’s not just physical health that Siobhan is passionate about. She’s also a strong believer in the power of exercise to improve mental health. And so, she supports causes through advocacy and fundraising, as well as by hosting events.

Siobhan credits part of her success to the contemporary and proven therapies offered at HYPOXI: technology-based exercise, infrared sauna, AirPod (hyperbaric oxygen chamber), nutrition and musculoskeletal therapies, etc.

But the major reason for her success is her staff. She has handpicked her team so that her clients will always feel welcome, supported, and listened to, and so her studios are friendly and family-orientated. Also, her staff are a great support to Siobhan—particularly Bec, the manager of the Bulimba studio, who has helped make it possible for Siobhan to expand.

Siobhan’s personal mantra for success is to, ‘Keep moving forward, keep motivated, and always remember why I started the journey in the first place.’

Siobhan walks the walk of health and fitness

Siobhan doesn’t just talk the talk of health and fitness; she also walks the walk—continuing to challenge herself. For example, she still loves to enter fitness competitions. In 2016 she won the World Fitness Federation (WFF) fitness model in the over 30 category, came third in the Nationals, and 6th at the Worlds. In 2017  WFF Ms Galaxy-Universe competition in Sydney Siobhan got 1st place fitness model tall and 2nd place supermodel.

While in Brisbane she has also competed in sports, including Camogie (Irish stick-and-ball team sport, similar to hurling) and Gaelic football.

And to top off her whole HYPOXI journey thus far, in November 2016, Siobhan won the Irish Australia Chamber of Commerce Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
